Other Volunteers

Rider / Drivers

Volunteer Riders and Drivers are the grass roots of our service. They collect and deliver the urgent samples, medications and materials that are required to assist the NHS. They are based across the Highlands and support our seven day service.

Ops / Controllers

Our volunteer controllers work shifts alongside our driver/riders. They liaise with NHS departments, rider/drivers and other Blood Bike groups to smoothly manage collections, delivery and relays where required. Often working from home (or their “day job”) they coordinate the charity assets to best effect on a daily basis.

Fleet & Maintenance

Our fleet are on the roads daily and as a result need regular servicing and preventative maintenance. Our fleet volunteers arrange with Ops to take vehicles off-service at an appropriate time to ensure our vehicles are fully serviceable and compliant whilst maintaining our full 7 day service.
